    The Summit 202620 March - 20 March 2026

An annual gathering exploring the possible futures of emerging technologies. The Summit is a Nordic gathering for leaders, innovators, and forward-thinking organisations who want to explore the futures of emerging technologies and understand their profound impact on business, society, and organisational readiness. It serves as a meeting point for those who not only wish to follow developments in artificial intelligence, immersive experiences, and emerging technologies, but also want to shape how these forces influence the way we work, make decisions, and build future ecosystems. ‍ Hosted by the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) and curated by the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies (CIFS), the conference focuses on foresight, technologies, preparedness, and futures-driven innovation. Through keynotes, panel discussions and focused dialogues, we examine both opportunity and risk, asking how innovation can be aligned with responsibility and long-term value creation. ‍ The Summit focuses on what lies ahead: Possible futures, strategic choices, and the readiness it takes to act responsibly as technologies evolve. It is not only about trends and tools, but about strategic foresight - identifying possible futures, and understanding the readiness it takes to act wisely and courageously as technologies continue to evolve.

The 2026 edition takes place in Copenhagen on 20 March 2026 (09:00–18:00 CET) at H. C. Andersens Blvd. 18, 1553 København - Industriens Hus. Themes include the AI-mediated workplace, leadership in the future, emerging technologies (including AI agents, simulations and humanoids), the future consumer, retail in transformation, and the futures of foresight.

The Summit is a Nordic gathering for leaders, innovators, and forward-thinking organisations exploring the futures of emerging technologies and their impact on business, society, and organisational readiness. Co-hosted by Danish Industry (DI) and curated by the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies (CIFS), the conference brings together keynotes, Nordic cases, and conversations on preparedness and responsible, meaningful action.

    Scenarios for Greenland:December 2025

    Deterrence, Dependence, or Capitulation?

The Arctic has long been viewed as a future arena of geopolitical competition and conflict. Renewed remarks by U.S. President Donald J. Trump about taking control of Greenland – a semi-autonomous, Indigenous governed territory within the Danish Realm – have brought that future abruptly into the present.

Given the unpredictability of the Trump Administration and its increasingly hostile tone towards Europe, a swift or stable settlement appears unlikely. To say that the stakes are high is an understatement.

What is at risk is not only the lives and livelihoods of the Greenlandic people, but also the cohesion of the transatlantic
alliance and the credibility of a rules-based international order – long underwritten by the United States itself. In this context of profound uncertainty, it is necessary to consider how the dispute over Greenland’s future might unfold.

The Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies has therefore developed four scenarios outlining how the conflict over Greenland could end, and the geopolitical implications of each outcome. While scenarios typically have a medium- to longterm focus – looking at least five to ten years into the future to reduce the need to constantly revise analyses and narratives due to rapidly changing developments – the gravity of the situation at hand demand that these scenarios focus on the near term.

Accordingly, they are written from the perspective of November 2026, shortly before the U.S. mid-term elections. The scenarios do not assign probabilities, nor do they advocate a preferred outcome. Rather, they offer snapshots of plausible near futures intended to illuminate the potential consequences of decisions that could be taken within days or weeks, and to support preparation for the wider political, economic and societal fallout they entail.

    Shaping Democracy’s Futures in Moldova

Foresight lessons from a critical crossroads: Democratizing youth futures and using foresight for innovations in democracy tech

I had the privilege to participate in a democracy conference and hackathon in Moldova in October, just days before the country’s pivotal EU referendum and presidential elections. Organized by the Alliance of Democracies Foundation in collaboration with local partner Yep Moldova and supported by USAID and the New Democracy Fund, the event was a hub of creativity, democratic innovation and a dose of foresight.
