Everything scaled. Can our emotions keep up?
Emotion Ecosystems explores three tensions shaping our emotional lives: hyperconnection and loneliness, the longing for unity and the pull of tribalism, and planetary care and exhaustion. The video follows a foresight workshop in which participants questioned the metaphors beneath these tensions and explored alternatives: mycelium, a field of mixed grains and slow cooking. These images open possibilities for more nourishing connections, belonging that embraces difference, and care at a sustainable pace.
Created within the Eye of Europe project, the video is part of the series Foresight in Action – Stories on foresight practice across Europe.
The video draws on the foresight workshop Emotion Ecosystems 2040, designed and facilitated by Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI) in Bucharest in June 2025, as part of the Eye of Europe project, funded under the Horizon Europe Programme.
