As part of the Foresight on Demand Framework Contract, DG RTD commissioned a study seeking to understand the implications and opportunities of demographic change for Europe’s R&I systems until 2050. This study will provide insights to help policymakers and stakeholders design resilient R&I policies that respond to demographic shifts.
To collect input and perspectives from across the research and innovation community, the Foresight on Demand (FOD) team is organising an online workshop on 10th of September from 09:30 to 12:30 CET.
The aim will be to identify policy actions to seize the opportunities and mitigate the challenges of demographic change for Europe’s R&I system.
Participants will be divided into four subgroups, each focusing on one of the predefined dimensions of demographic change for Europe’s R&I ecosystem:
●The effects on (tertiary) education systems,
●Interactions between the R&I ecosystem and related markets,
●Impact on R&I funding,
●Socio-spatial implications
The key activities during the workshop should encompass proposing new policies, public campaigns, research, and other initiatives.
