The Future of Sustainable Fashion event took place on Monday, April 14, 2025, at the MOMus - Museum of Modern Art in Thessaloniki, Greece. The workshop was implemented surrounded by the relative with the subject exhibition Collective Threads: Anna Andreeva at the Red Rose Silk Factory. This initiative was implemented by Helenos Consulting, a partner of the Eye of Europe Project, and aimed at engaging domain professionals, including foresight and fashion experts.
Conclusions & General Impact
The Future of Sustainable Fashion workshop highlighted how sustainability, technology, and societal values intersect in shaping the industry’s future. Key themes included the rise of circular economy models, zero-waste manufacturing, and innovations in eco-friendly materials through biotechnology and nanotechnology, all tied to shifting consumer values toward ethical and conscious consumption. Digital technologies were seen as both enablers of modernization and potential disruptors of human connection, positioning fashion as a medium that reflects and critiques these tensions. Inclusivity emerged as equally vital, with fashion acting as a platform for identity, representation, and belonging. The workshop’s broader impact lies in promoting ethical consumption, rethinking social norms, and questioning uncritical adoption of AI. Yet barriers remain—particularly fear of change and entrenched mindsets, reinforced by education. Participants emphasized that transformation must start within families and schools, valuing “feeling over doing” and embracing experimentation as essential to progress.
