Bruno Rodrigues is an Assistant Researcher (FCT-Tenure) at CIDEFES, Faculdade de Educação Física e Desporto, Universidade Lusófona, Lisbon, Portugal. He is an exercise physiologist, with a MSc in Exercise and Well-being and received his PhD in Physical Activity and Health in 2024. His research program is centered on the promotion of physical activity and healthy movement behaviours in cancer survivorship, with a strong emphasis on behavioural regulation and on the measurement science that supports it. A major line of his work addresses the motivational and self-regulatory processes underlying sustained physical activity and health behaviour change in cancer survivors. He has contributed extensively to research on exercise and cancer, including systematic reviews and meta-analyses on the psychosocial correlates of physical activity and on theory-based physical activity and nutrition interventions for cancer survivors, as well as the design, implementation, and evaluation of theory-based interventions, including the PAC-WOMAN randomized controlled trial in breast cancer survivors. His doctoral work focused on the development of surveillance and monitoring instruments to assess compliance with 24-hour movement guidelines across the lifespan. He has particular expertise in the development and validation of self-report and accelerometry-based tools, methodological harmonization in movement behaviour assessment, and the translation of surveillance data into population-level guidelines and policy-relevant indicators.

He has published 22 peer-reviewed articles in international journals and has authored multiple book chapters and national technical-scientific manuals for Portuguese health authorities. His h-index is 11 (Scopus, November 2026). He has presented his work extensively at international scientific conferences, with over 20 oral communications and approximately 15 scientific posters. His work has been recognised through competitive funding and scientific distinctions, including the Journal of Physical Activity and Health 2024 Article of the Year Award for Best Review Article, and multiple merit- and fellowship-based awards. He is actively involved in large-scale national and European research projects, including MSCA- and H2020-funded initiatives and multiple FCT-funded programs focused on theory-based exercise and behaviour change interventions for cancer survivors, 24-hour movement guidelines and surveillance, methodological harmonization of movement behaviour assessment, and physical activity on prescription in primary health care.
